FAST Hub Pavilions (Co-Creation with Migrant Domestic Workers) SKEW worked with the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training, together with Migrant Domestic Workers (MDWs) on a co-creation project. The aim of this on-going exercise is to integrate MDW input into the creative design process and construction of various greening and landscape spaces across the campus. Sites include existing and new farm lots started by various MDW groups, as well as along the facade of the 1960s modernist building which was originally a secondary school. The project involved multiple stakeholders across different governmental and social service agencies. By tapping into the expertise and needs of the MDWs, the design was a truly co-creative process, and one that sought to build up agency of the MDWs as they produce safe spaces and productive landscapes within an institutional setting. The larger ambitions of the project is to engage the neighbouring community, thereby creating a more resilient and inclusive society.
